macOS · iOS · Audio delivery

AudioReady.Check audio against the delivery spec, then fix it.

A native Mac and iPhone app that checks a recording against the delivery standards platforms publish, shows the rule behind every number, and writes a corrected copy. It also gets any recording into the format and size a destination accepts.

Audiobook narrators

ACX takes only MP3. The App Store version cannot write it.

Narrating for ACX? Download the direct version. The App Store version checks your chapters against every ACX requirement, but cannot write the 192 kbps constant-bitrate MP3 ACX accepts. The direct download writes it. The MP3 encoder is LAME, licensed under the LGPL, which is why it ships only in the version from this site.

The two purchases are separate: a licence bought here does not unlock the App Store version, and an App Store purchase does not unlock the direct download.

The problem

A file is rejected on a number you cannot hear.

ACX rejects a chapter automatically when one of five numbers is out of range, and you find out after the upload. The usual mistake is normalising peaks to −3 dB and assuming the RMS is fine: a file can peak at −3 and sit at −35 RMS. Spotify, Apple Podcasts and the streamers each publish their own targets. The work is not fixing the file — it is knowing which number is wrong.

The verdict

Per requirement: the measured value, the target, and how far off it is — RMS −16.2, target −23 to −18, not “failed”. Under it, the sentence from the platform's own document, with a link.

The fix

Studio writes a corrected copy, then reads it back from disk and measures it again — so the result is a second verdict, not a promise.

What it will not fix: a noise floor that is too high, a loudness range that is too wide, missing room tone, a file that is too long. Rewriting the file cannot cure these, and AudioReady says why before anything is bought.

Features

Check, fix, report — and prepare for sending

Delivery standards with their sources

ACX/Audible, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, SoundCloud, EBU R128, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and ATSC A/85 — each with the quote and link it was read from.

RMS as ACX measures it

Integrated loudness, true peak, RMS, noise floor, loudness range, room tone, length, sample rate and bitrate, each measured separately.

Dialogue-gated loudness

Netflix, Prime Video and A/85 state loudness for the dialogue. AudioReady measures it with Apple's on-device speech classifier, and agrees with Dolby Dialogue Intelligence to within 0.1 LU on the files compared.

Batch and the QC report

Check a whole list for free. With Studio, fix the whole list and export a sheet per file: measured, required, and which document required it.

Your own standards

Write a client's spec once, with where it came from, and check every file against it.

Prepare for sending

Right-click a file in Finder, or use the share sheet on iPhone. Pick Mail, WhatsApp, Discord, Car or your own settings; trim, split on silence, transcribe on-device, and take the audio out of a video.
